The US Navy has
awarded a contract to AAI Logistics & Technical Services to deliver
performance base logistics (PBL) support for theEA-6B Prowler, E-2C Hawkeye and C-2 Greyhound aircraft.
Under the
contract, AAI will provide logistical services for 110 hydraulic components
that are used for the three aircraft.
The company will
also provide services such as forecasting demand, scheduling repair activities
with organic depots, and supplying material in support of repair activities,
warehousing, inventory management and reporting.
AAI Logistics
& Technical Services senior vice president and general manager Diane
Giuliani said: "AAI Logistics & Technical Services' PBL programmes
offer Department of Defense customers an opportunity to see immediate
availability improvements for their legacy systems, with the affordability
required in today's budgetary climate."
Northrop
Grumman-built EA-6B Prowler is the US Navy's primary tactical jamming aircraft,
which supports a range of missions such as armed reconnaissance, electronic
warfare and jamming operations, as well as electronic surveillance.
The E-2C Hawkeye
aircraft has been designed to provide all-weather airborne early-warning
capabilities, as well as conduct missions such as strike command and control,
in addition to surveillance guidance of search-and-rescue missions.
Designed to land
on aircraft carriers, the C-2 Greyhound is a monoplane cargo, high-wing carrier
onboard delivery (COD) aircraft that provides critical logistics support to
carrier strike groups.
The recent $7m
task order has a three-year base period of performance and two one-year
options, while the US Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) weapon systems
support (WSS) will serve as the contracting activity.
Work under the
contract will be carried out at the company's facility in Jacksonville,
Florida, US.
